Dr. Apostolakos graduated in 1975 from Aristotle University Medical School.

He received his surgical training at the 401 Military Hospital, Hippokration Hospital and 424 Military Hospital in Northern Greece.

This was followed by a postgraduate fellowship in General Surgery at Kremlin - Bicetre Hospital in Paris, France. During this time, he pursued basic research interests in hepatobiliary surgical procedures under the guidance of Professor M. Testas at Kremlin - Bicetre, Paris.

He also completed a nine month training in hepatobiliary and endocrine surgery under the guidance of Professor P. Larrieu at Antoine Beclere University Hospital in France.

Dr. Apostolakos then returned in Greece where he served as residant and Medical Director of the greatest national and military hospitals in Northern Greece gaining vast experience in all fields of general surgery.

Dr. Apostolakos recognized the increasing incidence of obesity and obesity-related medical diseases. Thus, Dr. Apostolakos attended bariatric surgery training programs from 2004 to 2006 in Austria and Belgium.

Bariatric surgery and performing general surgery procedures became and remains a focus of Dr Apostolako's professional clinical and research efforts.

Offering both bariatric surgery as well as other routine general surgeries, he is able to treat patients from early treatable disease with weight-loss surgery to treatment of end-stage liver disease (ESLD) with transplantation.
